HELP US HELP THE CATS:
This year, St. Meows rescued more than 200 cats in need throughout the greater Boston area. Many of these cats were rejected by other shelters. Among them, four cats ejected from their home and left on the streets of Mattapan after their owner was murdered, a cat spotted draggings its back legs down a main street in North Cambridge, an elderly female cat unbelievably with a litter of kittens abandoned behind in an apartment complex in Somerville; a dozen cats left behind by their owners in the Charlestown housing projects, and one very emaciated cat with a broken leg dragging itself from door to door in Malden begging for help, just to name a few. Sadly, the list goes on. However great or small, your donation will help the many strays like these living on the streets among us - they have no door to knock on for help or hotline to call. These precious creatures only have organizations like St. Meows and true no kill shelters are far and few between. Donating is easy. Just a click on the Donate Now button on our donation page and contribute what you can. We also accept donations by mail and of course in person at our adoption hours. ore coming to St. Meows after being deemed feral.)

"PLAY DATES NOW AVAILABLE"
St. Meows is now offering play dates as a new way to adopt out kitties And so far, those who have adopted from us this way has loved the process. Play dates give adopters an opportunity to spend a day, even a weekend with a kitty or kitties they are interested in, before adopting them.
If the play date goes well, the cat can remain in the home and the applicant would only need to finalize adoption paperwork with St. Meows. Play dates are only available to approved adoption applicants and is an option offered to applicants at the discretion of the shelter. Play dates may not always be an available option. For more information, please stop by during adoption hours.

We will no longer be at Animal Spirit. We will miss all of you, especially our adopters, who stopped by every week just to say hello and to update us on their adoptee. We will of course also miss the many cat owners who came to the store over the years looking for us in dire need of advice about a medical or behavorial problem. BUT THE GOOD NEWS is we have already been extended wonderful offers of space in other Cambridge area locations and will be announcing new weekend locations soon. In the meantime, please come see us during our special weekend adoption events and of course each week during our regular Thursday night adoption hours.

PEPPERRELL CAT SHELTER....St. Meows probably received some 40 emails from concerned folks about the status of cats at a Pepperrell cat shelter. Everyone an sigh a sigh of relief. First, contrary to a craigslist posting, no cats at the shelter are slated for euthanasia. And there are about 40 cats remaining at the shelter, not 150, as reported. St. Meows has spoken directly with the interim operator of the shelter and has offered its assistance to the shelter. The shelter assured us graciously that they will indeed call upon us for help if and when they need it.

St. Meows has taken in an excpetionally high number of litters of newborn kittens and their mothers. This of course is putting a strain on our already limited amount of space, especially since kittens typically have to remain at a shelter for weeks until they are old enough to be adopted. Newborn kittens require very little space and care since the mother does all the work. Please consider being a foster home for one of these families!
A national treasure penned by Boston native Molly Baskette, Senior Minister, First Church of Somerville.
Leave it to a person with great compassion for humans to find a way to help those of us who have suffered the loss of a pet. (Click on the book for more info and/or to order.
We Want Your 2 Cents....and then some! St. Meows has an ongoing penny drive. That's right those brown coins that you hate to have in your pocket. Well we'd love them. And since Pennies from Heaven is only a lovely song, we need them to come from you. SO - please stop by your penny collection, whether it's in a Nestle's Quik canister or a tattered plastic bag) anytime during our Saturday or Thursday night adoption hours.
