ANNOUNCEMENTS
***They'll be no adoption hours tonight (Oct. 30). We'll resume hours next week.
Get up right now. Go to a closet, get in it, close the door, crouch, and stay in that position for just 10 minutes. Then come back and read on….That was pretty uncomfortable, huh. Well imagine, being in that position for 24 hours a day - months at a time. That’s the torture racing dogs endure, all for the sake for someone’s thrills. Make this an important issue. Get out and vote Yes on Question 3 this Tuesday, and help end needless suffering for a thinking, feeling, being. Dogs have no say. We have to speak for them. Speak up. Tell people who just don’t care that someone else does!!!!
NEW MAILING ADDRESS:
Donations and/or correspondence should now be sent to: St. Meows, 89 College Avenue, Somerviile, MA 02144.
MAY WE HAVE YOUR EMPTIES PLEASE!!!
St. Meows will do just about anything to continue to support our rescue work, including collecting cans!
This new fundraiser drive is actually proving to be one our most successful ones and we hope you will pitch in - instead of pitching out - those empty Poland Springs bottle, Sam Adams beer cans, soda cans, Starbucks Iced Coffee, or whatever your imbibe and toss in the recycle bin. And because we are working with a redemption center cain, we can also take those orange juice and wine bottles stamped for redemption.
We’ll take 10, 100, 1,000 - whatever you have. If you want to do some collecting for us. Great! Put a bin at work, ask friends for their empties or just plain ol’ walk the tracks. Just be sure to wear a sign when doing so: I’m not destitute, I’m helping an animal shelter!
WHERE TO BRING: Please bring your collected cans and bottles to us, on Thursdays, between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the First Church of Somerville, 89 College Avenue. We are in the chapel, which is accessed from the side entrance on Francesca Street. If you have a large collection and cannot make Thursday night hours, please email: alice@saintmeows.com and we’ll arrange a pick up. Thank you and happy collecting! Your help will give new meaning to the familiar political campaign slogan: Yes we can!!!!!
PLEASE READ - IF YOU MADE AN ONLINE DONATION TO ST. MEOWS IN THE PAST 4 MOS.
St. Meows recently learned online donations we’re going to an outdated account and that the donations were returned. This of course has hurt us financially. The problem, however, has been resolved. If you made a donation to St. Meows and it was returned, please consider resubmitting that donation. If you made a donation and it was not returned, please contact us so we can track your payment. We apologize - profusely - for the inconvenience this may bring any of you. Please know during these difficult economic times, the demand for our help is only escalating. We know everyone is keep an eye on their wallet, but please - don’t forget us. We are still here. Still helping. Unfortunately, it costs money to do so, lots of it. Every bit help. Skip that latte, watch a movie on tv instead of renting one, buy only one pair of boots - if you want a shelter to always be here with open doors to everyone, then support us! Thank you!!!!!!
"PLAY DATES NOW AVAILABLE"
St. Meows is now offering play dates as a new way to adopt out kitties And so far, those who have adopted from us this way has loved the process. Play dates give adopters an opportunity to spend a day, even a weekend with a kitty or kitties they are interested in, before adopting them.
If the play date goes well, the cat can remain in the home and the applicant would only need to finalize adoption paperwork with St. Meows. Play dates are only available to approved adoption applicants and is an option offered to applicants at the discretion of the shelter. Play dates may not always be an available option. For more information, please stop by during adoption hours.
****
We Want Your 2 Cents....and then some! St. Meows has an ongoing penny drive. That's right those brown coins that you hate to have in your pocket. Well we'd love them. And since Pennies from Heaven is only a lovely song, we need them to come from you. SO - please stop by your penny collection, whether it's in a Nestle's Quik canister or a tattered plastic bag) anytime during our Saturday or Thursday night adoption hours.
