Rates

$17 a visit; $27 a day on holidays (Eve of the holiday, the actual holiday; and the day after -- all other days are regular rate). There is no additional charge for homes up to 4 cats. An additional $2 will be added for each additional cat in homes with more than four cats.
 

What we do

We will always clean bowls, freshen food, give fresh water, and clean the litterbox and surrounding area. We'll also cater to your cat's whims such as putting on their favorite t.v. show, playing with them with a particular toy, or sitting with them on the floor while they eat their wet food (no kidding, we often have to do so with certain rescues just to get them to relax.) Hugs and chin scratches are always included at no additional charge (that is, for your cats). And we love to brush kitties; we have found it seems to be especially soothing to cats while their owners are away so be sure to leave out your kitty's favorite brush.

Also, unlike other pet sitting services, we do not charge extra for giving meds. Gosh, we do that every day anyway. As owners and operators of a nokill shelter, we are all too well versed in giving insulin injections, subQ fluids to CRF cats, pills, eye drops, etc. We also offer complimentary nail trimming as part of our cat sitting services upon request.

For you -- we'll turn off/on lights, open/close blinds, water plants, take in the mail, spy on neighbors, whatever. We're there anyway.

Advantages to in-home petting over boarding:

- First and foremost -- less stress on your cat. Cats are homebodies. It is nearly undignified for them to sit in a cage where they have to poop six inches from their food bowl and wait for someone to clean it, while surrounded by strangers in a strange place. That same cat is probably dreaming of the day it returns to comforts of their favorite pillow or couch spot at home.

- There is also no chance for your cat to catch diseases in the comforts of their own home and there's no doubt a boarding facility is going to fit is as many clients as they can.

- No liability. You don't have to worry about this, that and the other vaccination, nose drops, etc. required by boarding facilities and veterinarians. It's your cat; we are happy to come in and make sure they are happy, healthy, and well fed. With in-house pet sitting, you also don't have to worry about some vet tech or volunteer demanding you pay their medical bills because their cat scratched them or even worse, coming home to find your cat has been ordered to be placed in quarantine for 90 says because it bit someone. No matter how sweet a cat is -- put them in an alien environment and they are gonig to go on the defense. We run a nokill cat shelter. We get bitten and scratched all the time. It's part of our work.

Key policy

- Saint Meows always pays a complimentary visit to the home of any new account. At that time, we expect to retrieve a key to the home where we will be cat sitting. There will be a $5 fee for the pickup of keys after the initial visit. We will always leave the key behind upon request of the client. Alternately, clients are welcomed to stop by to retrieve their key. There will be a $5 fee for any key dropoffs by Saint Meows.

Payment

Payment is due at the commencement of the cat sitting services provided. Most folks just leave a check out on the kitchen table when they leave. Alternately, payment can be made online. All checks should be made payable to Saint Meows. All proceeds from cat sitting goes to Saint Meows.

Parking

As we all know, parking is a premium in the greater Boston area and parking tickets are expensive! So, please make every effort to obtain a guest parking permit for us or leave your permit behind for us to use.

Other

Please be sure to leave behind the adequate amount of food and litter for your kitty. If you should run out of food or litter while you are away, Saint Meows will restock it and bill you for the cost of the food and litter plus a $7 restocking fee.
